Barack Hussein Obama has less than 24 hours left in his presidency, and he just did something that proves he fully intends to go out with a bang.
The Gateway Pundit reported that Obama commuted the sentences of over 330 convicted criminals today. This means he has commuted the sentences of 1,715 criminals during his time in office, more than any other president in history.
All of the people whose sentences he commuted on Thursday had been convicted of drug crimes. This was all part of his push to correct what he called a systematic injustice.
During Obama’s time in office, he also freed 568 inmates who had been sentenced to life in prison.
“He wanted to do it. He wanted the opportunity to look at as many as he could to provide relief,” said Neil Eggleston, Obama’s White House counsel, according to the Associated Press. “He saw the injustice of the sentences that were imposed in many situations, and he has a strong view that people deserve as second chance.”
This was likely Obama’s final act as president, as he will be handing over power to Donald Trump at noon tomorrow.,
We find it sickening that Obama has freed so many violent criminals. If any of these convicts go on to hurt people, the blood of their victims will be on Obama’s hands.
